Guides Needed

Tinnerman Canoe Base is currently seeking individuals to serve as guides for the coming season.

Applicants should be able to work from mid-June until mid-August. College students seeking field experience and internships are encouraged to apply.

The job consists of independently leading groups of up to 8 people on week-long wilderness canoe trips of at least 50 miles in length. These trips may encompass routes anywhere on the French, Pickerel, and lower Wanipetei Rivers as well as the Georgian Bay. In addition to leading such trips, you will be responsible for some "on base" duties such as maintenance and meal preparation/clean up. Experience with Scouting, canoeing, and wilderness camping is helpful, but not a requirement. Above all, applicants must be outgoing, personable, and generally able to deal positively with people. All needed training will be provided on site, with the exception of the following:

The Greater Cleveland Council will typically reimburse the cost of these certifications.

Benefits include all room and board and transportation. Salaries are commensurate with experience. International applications welcome.
